Summary:

A favorite “go to” spot for Boston area families, Henry Bear’s Park offers a lively assortment of playthings that promote healthy and positive play for all ages. Responsibilities:
This position reports to the store manager and assists her in all the day-to-day operations from receiving & merchandising to sales & bookkeeping. In store managers’ absence, this person becomes the acting store manager and is responsible for all aspects of store operations. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Help customers pick the right products and complete sales transactions. 
  • Demonstrate superior product knowledge and provide product recommendations to customers
  • Receive and price product. Ensure that all receiving documentation is accurate. 
  • Execute merchandising plan to set up aesthetically pleasing and playful displays
  • Process weekly transfers and manage inventory levels
  • Provide product & customer feedback to the buying team. 
  • Mentor new employees and help develop a high performance team
  • Ensure proper cash handling and bookkeeping.  
  • Be the manager’s go-to-person in handling all aspects of store operations. 
 
Qualifications/Experience/Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1+ year of retail management experience in a Specialty retail environment.
  • Knowledge/experience with board games, children’s books and toys is a big plus.
  • Interested in a long-term career option. We see Assistant Managers as our future Store Managers. You will represent the brand and be the face of the company in the local communities that we serve.  
  • Be able to work at least one weekend day. 
  • Be able to work at least 30 hours a week – This is a full time role. (Not seasonal)
  • Physically active role – be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and carry product up and down the stairs 
  • Experience in visual merchandising and creating beautiful product displays. 
  • College degree preferred. Any experience in early childhood development is very desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills -- Attention to detail; ability to multi-task.
