Why We Love It
A note from our book buyer, Melissa: You might remember this author-illustrator team from the sweet and funny You Go First, an epic playground tale of bravery and negotiation. In this follow-up we meet Mabel, a strong female lead who wants what she wants when she wants it. This has its advantages (she gets what she wants!), but when she makes a new friend, Chester, she finds that her me-first mentality has its disadvantages too. The illustrations are both bright and emotionally nuanced, matching the overall tone of this story - the social-emotional awareness lesson is present but gentle.
